Is there a point in which a special edition that is entirely cosmetic in nature is considered cool enough to be worth more than the standard model? We often poke some fun at cars and trucks that get a bunch of stickers and then an inflated price tag, but in the case of the Ford trucks with the “Nite” edition packages, these were pretty slick machines back in the day. Of course, anything in the 90s that was monotone was instantly cool, so it’s of little surprise that rare Nite editions like this 1992 Ford F150 pickup here on eBay still look as good as they do years later.

The biggest challenge with the Nite editions is finding ones with the iconic pink graphics still attached. It seems a lot of these trucks lost their graphics and then were otherwise forgotten to the pages of dealer brochures and posters that advertised the unique details to customers in 1991 and 1992. The Nite edition was offered on both the Bronco and the F150, and in the case of the latter, you got the best configuration of all: a short-bed truck with 4WD and a V8 under the hood. In the case of this F150, it’s equipped with the optional 351, a nice upgrade over the standard 302.

4WD was not standard, however, as these trucks were also offered in rear-wheel drive only. I have only ever seen a Nite edition in person once, and it was a Bronco in a Massachusetts salvage yard. The interior of the truck is in great shape and indicates it has been well-loved since new; however, the Nite editions were not ever really set aside as true collector’s items, so I suspect this one has survived as well as it has simply because it had a conscientious owner. The seat fabric is unmarked and the carpets are likewise in great shape. An automatic transmission was standard equipment.

The 351 is a solid mill, and in 1992 it kicked out a respectable 185 horsepower. Of course, this engine will always sound and perform better with a free-flowing exhaust, so that’s one possible option for bumping up the output. However, you do have to love finding one of these in nearly stock form, so I don’t blame you for leaving it alone. The seller confirms that this is a solid, rust-free truck from Washington State, a great place to find clean vehicles like this one. Bids are sitting at $3,150 with no reserve, and this could be a deal in the making if you snag it for under $10,000.
