The seller of this 1986 Isuzu P’up pickup (is that redundant?) lists the mileage as being 11,867, and that’s amazing for a vehicle that’s almost 40 years old now. Please check out the very limited photos the seller has provided to see for yourself how nice this l’il rig looks. They have this time capsule listed here on Facebook Marketplace in San Mateo, California and they’re asking $6,550 or best offer. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Mitchell G. for the tip!
For 1986, buyers could choose from 21 different Isuzu configurations, from a regular bed and regular cab as shown here, or a long bed. There was a Spacecab, which Isuzu called their “Super Cab” with extra space behind the seat. They had, of course, 4WD models, and models with a bit more luxury with LS trim. Then you could choose engines, including a turbodiesel. This example is a fairly straightforward pickup. Speaking of the word pickup, Isuzu used a bit of a takeoff on a shortened portmanteau in naming these trucks the P’up, short for pickup.
The Isuzu Faster pickup was sold in North America as the Chevrolet LUV until the Chevy S-10 came out for the 1982 model year. This P’up is a second-generation Isuzu, and they were made from 1980 through 1988 here and you’d be looking for quite a while to find a nicer example than this one for sale here. At least cosmetically, based on the photos. We never know the actual condition of vehicles shown here, of course. We have to go by the same photos you can see and the information given in the seller’s listing. From what we can see, this truck appears to be in fantastic condition. They say that “MOST of it” is clean and original.
They’re short on photos, however, and that’s a shame when you’re trying to sell such a nice-looking vehicle. I don’t understand why anyone would limit the number of photos when they could show everything to entice potential buyers, but it’s one of the oldest complaints from those of us who like more photos. Engine-wise, this one should have Isuzu’s 2.0-liter SOHC inline-four with 82 horsepower. The seller says it has a three-speed, but there wasn’t a three-speed manual, and I’m guessing it’s actually a four-speed manual. A five-speed would also have been available. It reportedly runs well, and it looks great to me. Any thoughts on this P’uppy?
