This is one nice SUV/wagon/truck. The seller says this 1985 GMC Suburban K1500 Sierra Classic 4×4 has just 48,000 original miles and has had one owner since new. 40 years is a long time to own a vehicle, or at least one with four wheels. The seller has this beautiful time capsule listed here on eBay in Spanaway, Washington, there is no reserve, and the current bid price is $8,600. Thanks to Gary for the tip!
This gorgeous example is only the second GMC Suburban we’ve seen here on Barn Finds, and it looks like a winner. Frost White sandwiched between Colonial Yellow gives this imposing Suburban a milder look, and I argue that fewer sinister black cars with black wheels and black tinted windows would make for fewer aggressive drivers today. What say ye? Is that a chicken or egg thing? We could use some fun and friendly vehicle colors again rather than aggressive, frowning eyes (headlights) black vehicles bearing down on your rear bumper.
GMC offered the seventh-generation Suburban from 1973 through 1991, and I really like the stacked headlight years rather than the later side-by-side rectangular headlight grille. The seller has knocked it out of the park with dozens of outstanding photos of every square inch of this beautiful GMC, outside, inside, the bottoms of the doors, and many underside photos that show how solid and nice it is. Well done! Hagerty is at $15,300 for a #3 good-condition example and $25,100 for a #2 excellent-condition truck. This one has to be between those two numbers, if not closer to #2. It’s a screaming bargain at the current bid price.
The interior looks to be in excellent condition, and that’s one reason I like the Pacific Northwest climate: it seems to preserve vehicles better than most other areas of the country. It isn’t so hot that fabrics, soft plastic, and rubber get cracked and toasted, and the sun isn’t so hot that it burns paint to a crisp. The rear seat looks perfect, as does the cavernous rear cargo area.
The clean engine compartment houses a 350-cu.in. OHV V8 with 165 horsepower and is backed by an automatic sending power to all four wheels. The seller says it “Runs, Drives, Stops & Handles Down The Road Excellently! Starts Right Up Every Time. 5.7L Engine Sounds Healthy And Has Excellent Power. Transmission Shifts Through All The Gears Smoothly. 4wd In Good Working Order!” This looks like a no-brainer to me, how much would you pay for this beautiful 4×4 GMC?
